Following the opening dinner EMPAC treated the conference community to an astonishing work-in-progress presentation by EMPAC’s artist in residence Lars Jan/Early Morning Opera titled Abacus.

It was wonderful to hear about the way the EMPAC team understand their building as a resource for the development as well as the performance of new pieces, and their role as a bridge between art and science, university and community.
I was really interested to see the performers, technology and building working together.
