In 1995, a home office for the ASC was established at the Research Program in Social and Organizational Learning at The George Washington University. Previously the home office of the Society moved every three years to the office of the new president. This arrangement required that the new president be concerned not only with initiating new programs but also with establishing and maintaining a database of members, opening a bank account, learning how to file income tax returns for a non-profit organization, etc. Keeping a home office in one location will relieve the officers of some administrative concerns so that they can concentrate on efforts to advance the field.

  EXECUTIVE BOARD

The American Society for Cybernetics is administered by an Executive Board comprised of elected officers. This body is commonly referred to as 'The Executive'.

The officers are elected by the ASC membership to serve three-year terms.

During their term of office, the sitting Executive Board conducts their business via telecommunications (especially the Internet) and business meetings held in conjunction with major ASC conferences.

For more information on the officers, consult the Officers Page.

  TRUSTEES

The American Society for Cybernetics is advised by a group of Trustees.

Trustees connect current goals and actions with past intentions and traditions. They also suggest opportunities for future explorations.

For more information on the Trustees, consult the Trustees Page.
