Mick Ashby’s First Prize-winning entry Structure, Environment, Purpose, and a Grand Challenge for the ASC was presented by Ranulph Glanville. Stuart Umpleby and Thomas Fischer shortly presented their entries, followed by a general discussion.
Starting the ASC Meeting on Tuesday morning, members of the ASC reviewed and discussed two short films that were produced by Ray and Charles Eames in the time between the Macy Conferences and the founding of the ASC. In the discussion it became abundantly clear that the field of cybernetics has developed enormously since its early days, while the public perception of cybernetics has not changed very much.
